Atlantic Beach, NC 2011

Each year I have taken a photo of the yellow beach cottage. This year, a football made its way into the photo and it is so fitting for the trip. We had an amazing time. The boys had a blast and mostly Ryan and I had a blast because they did, although we had moments of relaxation. The Howerton's and the Ristine's have been vacationing together for over 30 years. We ended up having to rent a house because since several of us are married, the group is too big for the cottage. The boys stayed up late each night- we danced, the grown ups drank and somewhere someone was nearly always wrestling Leland and throwing a ball to Beau. It was stressful for me in a few ways, Leland got hurt and was wild- he is such a brute throwing himself around. Beau was a dream and I actually felt like I didn't see him that much- so many big boys for him to play with. I managed some beach runs (alone- which never happens) we had great food and a lot of laughter. Leland had a language explosion on the trip so that was fun- his personality is so funny, friendly and cute. Beau was more reserved and quiet but unbelievably active. Once again adults fussed over him- he caught a fish and threw a frisbee like he was a big guy. He loved running on the beach and was really in his element. What a gift to have such wild, active, intense little boys and I can not be grateful enough for those Howerton's and Ristine's who love them. It is overwhelming.
The gang
Daddy and Beau.
Uncle Tim and his nephews. They especially loved playing with and tackling him.
We took a trip to the Atlantic Beach aquarium...
Leland really loved Seth...I think the feelings were mutual. He talked his ear off and cried when Seth had to shower. He is still asking 'where Sef go?' and then he answers 'shower'. Seth was a little baby whisperer. He is such a quiet peaceful man, both boys were really drawn to him. Beau actually went under the water with him- which was freaking him out a little. It was so sweet to see them together.
Beau and Lydia
The best part of the vacation- and the only part that felt like a 'break' - other people wrestling and being wild with the boys.
I love these shots of Mimi and Beauu- Beau got a little air... He loved the kite.
Day 5 Leland fell on the driveway. It is actually worse than this but he should recover. It put a serious damper on the vacation- no more sun for him. He also began climbing out of his pack and play. I think he had an awesome time in spite of all of these things... He talked and talked and talked to anyone who would listen and was so outgoing and energetic. He has such a cute personality.
Lydia, Seth, my mom and Ryan -perhaps too many drinks?
Drew and Beau. One of Beau's favorite things about the beach was playing with Drew. I have photos of Drew and I swinging on that swing when we are 4 years old. What a special spot.
