I seriously can't get enough of this baby. He is at such a cute age and for now is so sweet and laid back. More than the other two, he is content just to held and to be close to me. He seems to be a little bit more peaceful than Beau and Leland were. When I rock him, he relaxes his whole body and is still as he sings his little heart out with his eyes closed. I know there have been periods with all of my kids where I thought they were 'easy' but I sense from this little man a different kind of intensity. Beau was so intense and intentional with his movement from the get go. We used to say he had 'fire in his eyes'. He was happy and I suppose he was still when he couldn't crawl but he still was intensely looking, grabbing, talking. Leland was much less intense in terms of motivation but more social. We laughed at him all of the time because you would look at him in the car and he would look like his face would burst- always such a huge smile. Things are very exciting to Leland but he prefers to talk to you about them and watch them as opposed to experiencing them. Leland always wants company and is very affectionate and emotionally intuitive. This is one of the reasons the big boys get along so well. Beau likes to 'do' and Leland loves to watch Beau. Leland is so encouraging and supportive and positive. Everything is 'so awesome' and 'great job.' For now, Sheppi seems to love my one on one time just talking and kissing him the most. He likes to check out what's going on around him but gets overwhelmed (who wouldn't) and needs some calm time. He is harder for others to get to smile. He smiles easily at his family but will turn away from strangers. You kind of forget when they are infants that they will be people ;) There is just something about this baby that feels just right to me. It feels like he balances out all of the 'crazy' over here.
