Yesterday was our 5 year anniversary. Ryan surprised me with a massage, a pedicure and then took me to Louisville to an awesome restaurant. We walked around and just had some down time without Beau. Thanks to my mom for keeping Beau. We had our first 'date' 13 years ago. I remember my mom had to drive Ryan home after our first kiss- we were so young. We had many many many fights, many breakups, hundreds of late night phone conversations, love poems, and all sorts of drama. We went to different colleges and managed to stay together although we did take a break to see if anyone else was out there (no one else would do). So here we are. We have lived in 5 places (3 apartments, a fraternity house and now our house), changed jobs 5 times, bought each other hundreds of presents (he wins in this category) and now we have one baby and one on the way. We continue to be very different in ways that spark battles, but we have the same values, believe the same things about raising our children and continue to try to make our marriage better every day. There is a lot of juggling, stress and the occasional resentment (he gets to much rest ;) I don't have a life ;)... Still, my husband is loyal, kind and willing. He listens to me and I haven't doubted his love in 13 years, although I know I have been hard to love at times (first trimesters a little rough). Being married to a marriage and family therapist is no easy task but I feel respected and appreciated. He values my staying home and he tells me that I'm doing a great job. Sometimes I look at my boyfriend and don't recognize the grown-up that he is. I am proud of him as though I can take credit for the man and the father that he is. Thank you for the super fun weekend. We needed a break and it was so fun to be with just him for a change. I love you.

I think you both suck. I just wanted to say something shitty because everyone else is so nice. Love, Jane
