Obsession

We have had a rough week. Beau has been getting up super early and seems tired all of the time :( To make matters worse, he is obsessed with keys and driving. He hangs on the front door and cries, holding the keys in his hand. Both of my sisters let him 'drive'- honk the horn etc. which has made this obsession grow. I ordered him his own steering wheel with lots of buttons for the car with hopes that he will stop crying 'keys' from the backseat. If we go outside, he looks for a car to break into. I have to pry my own keys from his fist while he throws a fit. The good news is that the second day of 'school' went well. Both teachers reported that Beau was very active and never stopped moving. True.... Mama is tired. The top picture is to remind myself that he is usually a happy boy and that staying home with him full time is worth the exhaustion and frustration (for both of us). I know he is better off but man oh man, I would like a different job today please. Being pregnant and chasing a 16 months old wild man may be wearing me out (you think?)... Thank the Lord I'm not vomiting and I have a helpful husband.

Oh, Lord, Anthony has it bad for the car too. Could you make him his own set of keys? It never worked for me to use kiddy keys but maybe you could put together one with old keys for him. It's so annoying and frustrating, I know. I hope it gets better soon!

I'm sorry I ruined your life. I did it out of love.

This is all just warming you up for when he is a full-blown two year old and you have a "starving" newborn that has to eat 45 times a day, so the two-year-old takes advantage of your discapacitated state and does absolutely everything he knows he is NOT ever supposed to do at all times of the day...

Oh, and I don't think "discapacitated" is really a word, but it is in that situation. :)

You just have to try to smile and know this time really goes too quickly...

I have one obsessed with keys and driving too. In some junk we found a keychain with a tiny measuring tape and Marielle calls those her keys and they must go with us every time we leave the house. I now keep them with my keys so they never get lost. She also likes the steering wheel for the carseat, I always ask her as I load her if she wants to "drive" for me. The real keys is a great idea, the toy keys just aren't lifelike enough for these smarties. :-) Hopefully some tricks will help you out! I know it's hard even as much as we love them.
